Metro Aluminum, a British Columbia-based supplier, expanded into the Calgary market with a new warehouse and sales office in Rocky View County. Having formed a close working relationship with Spire on a previous project, the company contracted us to construct their facility. Although a warehouse, the building is architecturally impressive with an elaborate panel reveal layout and glazing features, which include an extensive curtain wall enclosing the office, a number of skylights, and Clearview around the entire warehouse perimeter, with spandrel window detail to accent the precast construction. Aiming to accelerate the schedule, we recommended precast panels, rather than tilt-up, to achieve consistency with the finish and to help mitigate the schedule impact of the building through Calgary’s harsh winter. Our strategy resulted in a timely and on-budget delivery of the building.
